The Time of the End
Argument
Il y a la fin des temps, mais il y a aussi le temps de la fin. Reviendra-t-il alors à l’homme ou à Dieu de fixer le dernier jour ? Difficile de le dire : « Pour ce qui est du jour et de l’heure, personne ne le sait : ni les anges des cieux, ni le Fils, mais le Père seul » (Mt 24, 36). Reste que nous sommes toujours là, toujours vivants, non seulement en tant qu’hommes, mais aussi en tant qu’espèce humaine en général. Que faisons-nous, et que devons-nous faire, d’ici la fin ? L’urgence de la question se pose dans le « temps qui reste ». Un message d’espoir et d’espérance qui ne saurait aujourd’hui être nié, en dépit de tous les catastrophismes qui sont publiés. « Se tenir en éveil » : tel est ce à quoi nous appelle aujourd’hui notre humanité, mais aussi la divinité.

There is the end of time, but there is also the time of the end. Will it then be up to man or God to set the last day? It is hard to say: “No one knows the day or the hour, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father” (Mt 24:36). The fact remains that we are still here, still alive, not only as human beings, but as the human race in general. What do we do, and what must we do, between now and the end? The urgency of the question lies in the “time that remains.” A message of hope and expectation cannot be denied today, despite all the published doom and gloom. “Keep awake”: this is what our humanity, but also our divinity, is calling us to today.
